History of tents
Tents have been around since 40 000 BC, and were first used in Russia it is said. The tents at the time were made using large animal bone and hides to make a tent structure with large tusks making a doorway.
The first 40 000 years of tents were made like this, and was one of the main ways to habitat for many people at the time
Hunters were aware of the migration of animals they were hunting, at around 450 BC. The Yurt and the tepee provided an alternative to the animal bone and hide, which was greater portability.
They were people who started to make rudimentary permanent dwellings for themselves, which still exists today.
The army
The roman army were known to use tents when they relocated across Europe, and these were made by using goat or calf skin, which could inhabit 8 - 10 soldiers.
The placement of the tents was vital, with tents having lower ranking soldiers placed close together with stakes overlapping to make a barrier preserving the camp.
Tents for leisure
In the beginning of the 19th century, large tents became part of traveling circus, protecting audiences, and performers from the elements before making the circus profitable for longer throughout the year.
The idea of camping
It did not become popular until the first half of the 20th century, which gave Americans more leisure time on their hands. Eventually it has become global to use tents for vacations and relaxing in nature.
